  • Rupert is about as experienced a biker as you’ll ever find and as such has probably fallen foul of pretty much every electrical gremlin there is. His harnesses are laid out on a proper loom board and inticately planned, rather than the make it up as you go along method used by many ‘professional’ auto electricians. His brain understands leccy spaghetti so that yours doesn’t have to, save yourself the pain and have your wiring sorted the right way, whether it be a full Motogadget system or an ancient 6v braided cable affair – Rupert is your man. You can even order a full colour wiring diagram once complete to show your mates that you know what you’re talking about.

“I made my first motorcycle wiring harness in 1982, after studying motorcycle engineering at Merton Technical College. On leaving Merton I worked as a road and race mechanic at Steve Wynne’s Sports Motorcycles, and in 1985 became a journalist on Performance Bikes.”

“I’ve ridden about 1000 different models over the years, and interviewed scores of special builders and race teams all over Europe. More importantly I’ve restored or modified around 45 bikes, one of them being my fairly tasty Ducati 900SSie.”

“I was editor of Performance Bikes from 1988-94, and launch editor-in-chief of RiDE magazine in 1995. I edited MCN Sport magazine until its demise in 2017. It was highly praised by V. Rossi: “There is something deeper and more particular about this magazine.” I occasionally write for Bike, Performance Bikes, Classic Bike and Practical Sportsbikes.”

“In 2013 and 2014 I helped mechanic for classic racer and former British Short Track champ Peter Boast. In 2017 I’ve been part of Boasty’s Classic TT team, and also Team Classic Suzuki’s endurance race effort, with Peter, Guy Martin and Michael Neeves.”

“Building a motorcycle wiring loom at my workshop in Oundle, Northants takes about a week. We can arrange pickup and delivery, or you can bring your bike yourself. It’s a mere 15 minutes from the A1 at Peterborough, or 30 minutes from the M1 at Northampton. To begin your journey towards electrical happiness, give me a ring or a mail.”

The Marina is opposite. Go in, turn immediately left, then first right)
