We went on a trip to the Black Forest with Magellan a few weeks ago and it really was a great experience.
They get you all organised before you start with advice and a brilliantly set up route plan for your GPS with stops pinpointed for each day, so you can either ride off ahead on your own and know where to meet up again, or just know when you can catch the next cup of coffee or have a comfort stop.
The routes were both interesting and great variety for biking with hairpins and scenic views up in the mountains, always ending at a well chosen hotel with great food and drink
The choice is whether to go on your own with a self guided tour or take a guided tour. Being born again tourers with a pillion on the back who’d never done a tour, we went for the guided tour that covered reasonable distances but without being a race down the autobahns…
However the beauty if you choose a guided tour is, you get really great guides as well, who are knowledgeable, brilliant company and now I like to think friends! One is off to try o beat the land speed bike record on the Bonneville Salt Flats shortly, so you know you’ve got great company!
The rest of the tour members are still regularly in touch on whatsapp and we have already arranged a reunion at the Bike Shed for soon – to plan the next one.
